As part of Melbourne Design Week 2026, Tall Poppy brought together a collective of Australian designers, makers and creative practitioners exploring the evolving landscape of local design culture. Curated by Tiffany Jade and presented at Kelli Lundberg Art in Moorooduc, the exhibition and accompanying panel discussion celebrated the value of locally made design, material exploration and creative sustainability within the Australian design industry.
Founder Jean-Pierre Biasol joined an esteemed panel alongside Mardi Doherty, Gordon Tait, Michael Karakolis and Leisa Wharington for a conversation centred on Australian design practice, manufacturing and the importance of supporting local production. Together, the discussion reflected on the role of design in shaping culture and community, while highlighting the opportunities and challenges facing contemporary creative industries in Australia.
