From its beginnings in Shoreditch, Grind has grown into one of London’s most recognisable hospitality brands — a network of cafés, bars and restaurants serving coffee, cocktails and food across the city. Founded on a vision that combined quality coffee with music and culture, the original Shoreditch Grind set the tone for a new kind of social experience.
Between 2013 and 2019, Biasol worked closely with Grind to shape the physical expression of the brand, delivering over fourteen locations across London. Each space was conceived to feel distinct to its setting, yet unmistakably part of a larger whole — building a consistent and recognisable identity through design.
The approach centred on experience. From early morning coffee to late-night cocktails, each venue was designed to transition seamlessly throughout the day — underpinned by music as a defining element of atmosphere and identity. Materiality, layout and spatial rhythm were carefully considered to create environments that felt energetic, social and inviting. Rather than replicating a formula, each location responded to its context while maintaining a clear design language — reinforcing the Grind brand through spatial experience. This balance between individuality and consistency played a key role in establishing a strong and memorable presence across London.
Projects included: Shoreditch Grind, Soho Grind, Holborn Grind, Covent Garden Grind, Clerkenwell Grind, Broadgate Grind, Liverpool Street Grind, Piccadilly Grind, Greenwich Grind, Whitechapel Grind, Royal Exchange Grind, London Grind, and Exmouth Market Grind.
Through this body of work, design became integral to how the brand was experienced, understood and remembered — contributing to Grind’s evolution into a destination embedded in London’s culture.
