Hinoak is a modern Korean barbecue restaurant where brand and interior were conceived in unison to create a distinctive dining experience. Inspired by the work of Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the design explores the relationship between nature, craft and human interaction.
At the heart of the restaurant is the ritual of shared dining. Timber tables with integrated charcoal barbecues structure the space, creating warmth, intimacy and active engagement between diners. The brand identity centres on the Chinese character for fire, a symbol deeply connected to Korean culture. Sculpted into the timber façade and subtly embedded within the interior, the mark becomes part of the architecture itself. Through natural materials, light and carefully considered detailing, Hinoak reinterprets the Korean barbecue tradition with contemporary clarity and craft.
